That’s a question I recently found myself asking, well, myself. My answer is intelligent. But truthfully, no matter how optimistic we are, the truth is, there’s no guarantee that intelligence will get you somewhere beauty doesn’t. There’ve been cases where someone (let’s get real though, mostly women) gets promoted because of how they look over someone who is much more capable because they’re just not as pretty. And to be successful in show business or Hollywood, beauty is sort of a requirement.
And besides, EVERYTHING today seems geared towards beauty. All the popular kids on T.V. are beautiful people, I’ve never seen an ugly model (whether they’re photos are touched up is irrelevant – the end result is the same – beauty matters).
Which makes me wonder how many people would choose intelligence over beauty when it seems like beauty can take anyone as far as intelligence can (although admittedly there are limits). So which is really better to have?
For my part, I will always stick to intelligence. For one thing, beauty does not last forever. You get old, it fades, and then what do you have to fall back on? And let’s be honest, where’s the dignity in getting anywhere only because of how you look? And, as women, respect comes with intelligence and knowing what you’re about. Like they say ‘it’s a man’s world’. I would much rather be respected for my brains that lusted after for my – other attributes.
Of course that doesn’t mean people can’t spruce up. That’s perfectly fine. When you look good you feel good. I just think we shouldn’t place too much importance on appearances.
