If They're Not Single, They're Not Available.

When you think of cheating, what comes to mind? For me it's the song If Loving You Is Wrong I Don't Want to Be Right by Luther Ingram & Little White Lie by Tanya Stephens.  It's the epitome of so many of the excuses that people give for cheating. It used to be a hushed topic, subtle references, the pretense that it isn't happening. It has since grown into something more main stream, glamorized and popularized by television, music and society in general. It, like many other things has unfortunately become the norm.

There are tons of other songs where persons speaking of cheating or being cheated on. It Wasn't Me - Shaggy. It's Not Right, But It's Okay - Whitney Houston. Ring the Alarm - Beyonce. Picture To Burn - Taylor Swift. You Give Love A Bad Name - Bon Jovi. Obsession (No Es Amor) - Frankie J.  There are tons of movies. Derailed. Unfaithful. Something Borrowed. We've seen cheating take down people who are in the public eye, the two that come to mind off the bat are Bill Clinton and Tiger woods. There are even websites that guarantee that they can find someone for you to have an affair with. Where is my "can't look emoticon" when I need it?

Presently I have a friend who is and has been for quite sometime, involved with a married man. It's gotten to the point where I've decided that I don't want to hear about her relationship with him. She's my friend and I love her, but I wont pretend for one second that I am ok with what she is doing. I am presently in a relationship and it always makes me wonder, what if this was my boyfriend fooling around with someone else. how would I feel? What would I do. I know for certain that I'd be crushed and I can't presently think of how I'd react. As a woman, I can't fathom doing this to another woman.

I'm a firm believer that if they cheat with you, they will cheat on you. So as far as I'm concerned any relationship that starts with cheating is doomed because of the obvious lack of respect for what constitutes a relationship. I'm not a fan of excuses, I don't want to hear the excuses as to why it happened. And trust me I don't want to hear the stories of tactless women talking about they satisfy the man better than his partner. Bullshit. If you are in a relationship and you are not happy, you either need to try counselling to see if reconciliation is an option and if it's not then you shouldn't be together. If you are not attracted to someone why be in a relationship with them, or if you don't love them, or if you can't get along. with each other. Before cheating becomes an option, you should consider leaving the relationship. Yes it will hurt once the relationship is dissolved, but it'll hurt alot less than knowing that you are in a relationship with an unfaithful partner.

Life is simple, people choose to complicate things. We often say life isn't black and white but it is. There's the right thing and the wrong thing.  Cheating is definitely the wrong thing.
